Salam Youth Awards ceremony was held recently to recognise UAE universities’ students in the categories of academia, sports, popularity, special needs, entrepreneurship, art, etc.

Voting was open for around two months; anyone with an online account on the Salaam website could vote for their candidates, and as many times as they wished.

A girl a from Dubai Medical College won in the Most Popular Student of the Year category after collecting a whopping 17,421 votes!

A new category, ‘Highest Voter’  was created to award a student of Rashid School for Boys, Dubai. He won a prize for voting 926,626 times!!

That’s not all. The most amusing part of the whole competition is that the two winners happen to be siblings. In his own words, the devout brother spills the beans:

It took me a few hours a day for almost a month. I did it while surfing the net . . . I voted for my sister the most.”  Notes, Gulf News
